A.Lange & Söhne 1815 Annual Calendar in 18k Rose Gold Box and Papers set ref. 238.032

Introduced in 1996 by Patek Philippe, the annual calendar complication has steadily gained popularity. It offers a simpler and more budget-friendly option compared to its more complex counterpart, the perpetual. While it can distinguish between months with 30 and 31 days, it still needs to be corrected once a year, specifically at the end of February, as it doesn’t account for the shorter month or leap years.

 

At hand, we have a lovely example of this complication from the Saxon house A. Lange & Söhne, part of the 1815 line.

 

Since its introduction in 1994, the 1815 collection by A. Lange & Söhne has embodied the brand’s most classic and minimalist design language. Often considered the brand’s hallmark line, it has been produced in a wide range of variations and sizes to cater to diverse tastes. This watch comes in a beautifully proportioned 40 mm case with bold lugs and wears comfortably thanks to its 10.1 mm thickness, ensuring it doesn’t feel too thick on the wrist.

 

At two o’clock, there’s a quick-set pusher for the date and day, along with four correctors on the side for the remaining calendar and moon phase functions. Additionally, a display case back allows for full admiration of the L051.3 movement within. The dial is crafted from sterling silver in a lovely argenté tone, featuring a subtle step in the central area. It includes three sub-dials for the moon phase and calendar indications, with black-painted Arabic numerals. A beautifully executed moon phase display and elegant blued hands complete the composition. This fine annual calendar is fitted with its original Lange leather strap and an 18k rose gold pin buckle.

 

The manually wound movement has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker. The watch comes with its original Buch zur Uhr, neatly mirrored along with the operating instructions in a matching leather folder. Also included in the sale are the 18k rose gold corrector pin and the original Lange presentation box. The paperwork confirms the watch was sold in 2021 in Lisbon.
