In 1875, Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet established the Swiss watchmaking house Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus, nestled in the Vallée de Joux. A pioneer in haute horlogerie, the brand launched its first series of perpetual calendar wristwatches with a leap year indication in 1955.

 

The Quantième Perpétuel 25682 belongs to the Edward Piguet collection, a line named in honour of one of Audemars Piguet’s founding partners. Its design draws inspiration from a distinctive rectangular “tank-style” watch created by the brand in the mid-1920s.

 

This QP 25682BA features a contemporary 45mm by 27mm rectangular case, offering a distinctive and refined wrist presence. Its elongated lugs extend in clean, fluid lines from end to end, enhancing the watch’s architectural elegance. The overall case finishing—from the bezel to the softly contoured lugs—adds a touch of subtle sophistication, lending the piece a more rounded and approachable aesthetic.

 

The dial retains the classic perpetual calendar layout, thoughtfully adapted to suit the rectangular format. The date is displayed at 3 o’clock within a recessed sub-register that adds dimensionality to the otherwise smooth silver dial. Mirroring this depth, the day of the week is placed at 9 o’clock, the month at 12, and a moon phase display anchors the dial at 6, complete with a moon age scale above it. The sub-dials, finished with delicate concentric graining, create texture and visual contrast, enhancing the watch’s complexity and charm.

 

Painted Breguet numerals offer a nostalgic nod to traditional perpetual calendars and elevate the white dial with vintage character—an element both rare and highly sought after among collectors. These numerals are complemented by sleek leaf hands for the hours and minutes, while the sub-dials are equipped with elegant blued steel hands, offering a refined pop of color.

 

Inside, the 25682 is driven by the manual-winding calibre 2003 with an added 2805 QP perpetual calendar module—a legendary ultra-thin movement based on a Jaeger-LeCoultre ébauche—and has been fully serviced by our watchmaker. The original Audemars Piguet leather strap shows light signs of wear and is fitted with the matching 18k yellow gold AP folding buckle.
