Patek Calatrava Porcelain Dial Clous de Paris 18k Yellow Gold Case with Extract from the Archives ref. 3919
This fine Calatrava ref. 3919 was introduced in 1985 as a response to the Quartz Crisis, with then-president Philippe Stern aiming to highlight the value of mechanical watchmaking.
The 33.5 mm 18k yellow-gold case reflects the minimalist elegance of the original Calatrava line, but features the distinctive Clous de Paris (hobnail) bezel. The bezel consists of two concentric circles of small pyramid shapes, now considered a timeless classic. Furthermore, the case has a snap-back construction, fine elegant lugs, and a classic white porcelain dial with sharply printed black Roman numerals, a small seconds sub dial at the lower half, and very fine black non-luminescent hands.
The watch is paired with a lovely Bulang & Sons leather strap and is powered by the hand-wound calibre 215 PS, which has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
The Extract from the Archives, which accompanies this fine piece—nicknamed “the banker’s watch” due to its popularity among financiers who appreciated its understated luxury—states a manufacturing and sale date of 1986.
