Patek Philippe Calatrava 3574 Silver dial "Beyer" in Steel Execution with Box

Patek Philippe Calatrava 3574 Silver dial "Beyer" in Steel Execution with Box

The Patek Philippe Calatrava Reference 3574, produced from 1970 to 1974, is a unique and short-lived model from the 1970s that deviates from Patek Philippe’s traditional round cases by featuring a stainless steel, barrel-shaped design.

It is a steel-only reference—uncommon for Patek Philippe at the time—giving it a distinctive "industrial chic" appeal and making it a rarity within the brand’s collection. It is estimated that only a few hundred examples were produced, the vast majority featuring blue dials. This makes our example doubly rare: it sports a beautiful silver dial, double-signed with “Beyer” at the six o’clock position. It also features sigma markings at six o’clock and highly unusual blackened markers and blackened hands, which create a striking contrast against the matte silver backdrop.

It is believed that no more than 20–30 examples are known with a silver dial and these particular markers—let alone with a double signature.

About Beyer: Beyer Chronometrie was founded by the Beyer family, whose lineage of watchmakers dates back to the 18th century.

It is the oldest watch and clock retailer in the world still in operation. Now in its eighth generation of family ownership, Beyer has built a reputation as one of the most respected and trusted names in high-end watchmaking. In 1971, the Beyer Clock and Watch Museum (Uhrenmuseum Beyer Zürich) was opened, featuring one of the most comprehensive collections of timekeeping devices—including ancient Egyptian water clocks, astronomical clocks, and early pocket watches. Today, it is considered a pilgrimage site for horology enthusiasts.

The case is in lovely condition, featuring a screw-down case back with notches, and it comes fitted with a handsome leather strap. Powering this piece is the slim, manual-wound Caliber 23-300—a compact movement designed for thin watches, notably without a sweeping seconds hand. The original Patek Philippe inner and outer (cardboard) boxes are included in the sale. This fine and rare dress watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.

This super rare Calatrava is understated in steel, double signed; enough said, this one speaks quietly yet it is a trophy watch, get back to us!
