Patek Philippe Retrograde Perpetual Calendar 5059G Officer Case in 18k White Gold with Original Certificate of Origine
Introduced in 1998, Reference 5059 was the first serially produced perpetual calendar wristwatch with a retrograde date ever made by Patek Philippe.
It was also the first perpetual calendar model since the legendary References 2497 and 2438-1 to feature a sweep centre-seconds hand. The watch is distinguished by its 36 mm officier-style case, with elongated lugs secured by screwed bars, as well as a hinged case back incorporating a display window and correctors for the moon-phase and calendar functions.
Powering the watch is the automatic Calibre 315, fitted with a 21-carat gold rotor. The white dial features black Roman numerals as hour markers, cut-outs for the perpetual calendar and moon-phase displays, and is topped with four elegant blackened hands.
The captivating retrograde date is fully integrated into the perpetual calendar mechanism, with the date hand instantly “flying” back to 1 at the end of each month.
This fine complication is fitted with an original Patek Philippe leather strap and an 18K white-gold Calatrava style folding clasp. Furthermore the watch is accompanied by its original certificate of origin, stating a sale in 2004, as well as a 2025 service invoice from an authorized Patek Philippe dealer. As a result, the watch remains under Patek Philippe warranty.
Total production of the Ref. 5059 remained under 1,400 pieces, spanning 18K yellow, white, and rose gold, along with platinum. Notably, fewer than 400 white-gold examples were produced throughout its eight-year lifespan..
Retrograde, rare, conversation starter and ridiculously charming—just like you!
