We have never said this before, but we are certain that this is the nicest vintage GMT-Master available on the market at the present time.
Breaking another taboo, we are also certain that this case has never been polished…look at the condition and lug bevels. In short, this watch is incredible!
The papers that accompany the watch also prove a long-held belief, as they state that the GMT was originally made for the Pan-American airlines. The pointed crown guard case is, as you have guessed, about as good as it gets. The glossy dial is like looking into a barrel of crude oil with crisp text, which is a very strong copper colour that is beautiful. The dial has an underline and the lume on the plots and in the gilt hands has aged to a vanilla hue that is stunning!
The watch has a beautiful insert that has naturally faded – the blue is a purple shade and the red has turned pink. The original guarantee papers are present, stating a sale in 1965 in Kuwait, as well as the aforementioned paperwork in Arabic.
The Jubilee bracelet is in great condition with ref 55 endlinks and a clasp stamped ‘3 64’. The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and a new crystal was fitted, although we have kept the original to include in the sale.
