Rolex Cellini King Midas ref. 4143 Asymmetric in 18k White Gold
The Rolex King Midas was first introduced in 1962 and designed by Gérald Genta as a luxurious, avant-garde timepiece inspired by the Greek Pantheon and the myth of King Midas.
Inspired by the legendary King Midas—whose touch could turn anything to gold—this timepiece embodies that same spirit of opulence and transformation. Bold, unconventional, and undeniably golden in character, it captures the myth’s allure in horological form.
Crafted from 18k gold, it was among the heaviest and most expensive Rolex watches of its time. Key features include its distinctive asymmetrical case and the crown positioned on the left, symbolizing Midas’s golden touch.
Presented here is a rare version in 18k white gold, featuring horizontal yellow gold striping on the bezel set with twelve brilliant-cut diamonds.
The ultra-thin, asymmetric case is in fine condition and features a snap-on case back and a yellow gold winding crown. We especially love the original Rolex leather strap, which perfectly complements the distinctive style of this particular watch. Measuring 27 mm, it wears larger on the wrist thanks to its broad strap and bold design.
The square silver dial has a horizontally brushed finish, three small diamonds as hour markers at the 3, 6, and 9 positions, a refined Cellini script, and an applied Rolex coronet.
This strikingly cool watch is powered by the hand-wound caliber 1601 and has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
A quirky twist on royalty — this King Midas turns everything it touches to gold !
