Rolex Datejust Swiss only Cream Dial ref 6605

It might come as no surprise that the Rolex Datejust is one of our all-time favourite watches. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of offering some exceptionally rare and beautiful executions.

 

This mid-1950s reference 6605 features a lovely case with the typical reeded steel bezel, all preserved in fine condition.

 

The true showstopper, however, is the cream matte dial. It features an applied Rolex logo, distinctive “boat”-shaped hour markers, and lume that has aged to a rich mustard tone. Elegant Dauphine hands complete the look; they have been relumed in the past with later tritium zinc-sulphide lume.

 

This rare Datejust is paired with a beautiful Bulang & Sons leather strap, complementing its warm vintage character perfectly. Inside beats the slow-set movement with its characteristic “butterfly”-shaped rotor, fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker and ready for many years of reliable wear.

 

We truly love the Datejust, and these early references offer a charm and character that later examples simply can’t replicate.
