Rolex Day-Date 1803 White Buckley Dial in 18k Yellow Gold

Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date was the first waterproof, self-winding chronometer wristwatch to display both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full. Available exclusively in precious metals such as 18k gold or platinum, it has served as the flagship of the Rolex catalogue for nearly 70 years.

This example features a lovely pie-pan style matte white Buckley dial, named after legendary New York dealer John Buckley, who is known for his fondness for these dials. The 36mm yellow gold case remains robust, with a nicely defined 18K yellow gold fluted bezel.

 

The dial is in fantastic condition, with crisp black text, Roman numerals, and matching black hands, complemented by a beautiful yellow-toned patina. The day disc is in Italian.
