Rolex GMT-Master Gilt Chapter Ring Exclamation Dot Dial Ref 1675

The term gilt dial comes from the gold-coloured text, which is actually the brass dial plate showing through the glossy finish that was printed in relief. This gilt dial is extra special as the six o’clock marker has a small dot under it to show that the lume on the dial has lower radiation levels, an important issue in the early 1960s. Collectors refer to these dials as Exclamation Dot dials and they are highly prized and hugely sought after.

The 40mm steel case with pointed crown guards is in fantastic condition with evidence of the original factory bevels still there.
The dial is still super glossy and in 95% condition.
The watch has a beautiful fat font bezel insert that has naturally faded – the blue is like marine blue and the red has turned pink. This one fitted with an original so called “tropic no 38- a Rolex plexiglass without a loupe- an option back then !The rivet Oyster bracelet, reference 7206, is in great condition with a clasp stamped ‘1 63’ and reference 80 endlinks. The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
