Rolex GMT-Master 6542 Tropical Dial

The first chapter in a long story…

The Rolex GMT-Master was introduced in 1954 as reference 6542.

We are delighted to offer this example of the first GMT from 1957 – the original no-crown-guard GMT-Master.
This watch remains in good o& honest condition. The watch houses the original OCC dial that has turned a wonderful tropical brown , reminiscent to an old leather skin .
The watch has the original hands, but the seconds hand, gmt and part of the minute hand have been relumed with later tritium.

The bezel and insert were replaced by Rolex at service( So an original non Radio -active Replacement bakelite !), as stated on the accompanying paperwork from Danish AD Klarland. The Oyster rivet bracelet is a reference 7206, fitted with reference 380 endlinks and a small logo clasp.
The serial number is hard to read, but we can make out all digits, 319xxx that date the watch to 1957. A lovely watch that can be worn in this configuration on a daily base we find ! This early GMT has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
