Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King Black Dial ref. 5500

There’s something so timeless and elegantly sporty about the Air-King—a watch introduced by Rolex in the 1940s to honor Royal Air Force pilots who took part in the Battle of Britain, and one that remains in the catalogue to this day.

 

The 34mm steel case is still strong, with nicely even lugs and a lovely smooth bezel. We’ve fitted this marvel with our Oyster-style straight end link bracelet—a very cool look!

 

The dial is jet black with white printed text and stick markers (oddly enough, a double stick appears at 3 and 6, but not at 9 o’clock!). We particularly love the Air-King font and the cream-colored lume on this one.

 

This fine time-only watch, perfect for any occasion, has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
