With this watch, also nicknamed ‘Triple Six’, Rolex doubled the depth rating to 4000ft thanks to its larger Helium escape valve when compared to its predecessor carrying reference 1665.

Furthermore, Rolex created a one-directional bezel (for the diver’s safety) and switched to a sapphire crystal. Therefore, this Sea Dweller is considered as a transitional model. This example comes with a rarer MK1 Matte dial which is used in the first batch (later switching to gloss dials with white gold surroundings ). The dial has developed a lovely vanilla tone patina on plots and hands , a thick case and a jet -black insert with a luminova pearl. Attached to the head of the watch is a nice oyster type bracelet ref. 93160 with solid endlinks.

We love these Dwellers for its no -nonsense and straight forward purpose build tool-vibe and they are easily suitable for every day wear!
