Rolex Submariner 5512 4-Liner Gilt Dial
We’re pleased to offer this incredible no-date Submariner—a stunning example of a gilt-dial Rolex sports watch with a beautifully glossy finish.
Most of the text and the chapter ring are in a rich gold tone—hence the term “gilt.” This color actually comes from the brass base of the dial showing through, as the text was printed in relief beneath the lacquer. What makes this one especially rare is the addition of two extra lines of silver print on top of the lacquer, bringing the total to four lines—an uncommon and highly sought-after variation of the gilt dial, used only on the chronometer-rated versions of Submariners from that decade, specifically the reference 5512.
The case is in superb, unmolested condition—just look at those sharp lines, with the original bevels on the lugs still fully visible! The bezel insert is also in great shape, with just a hint of fading and a lume pip that has been refilled.
The dial and hands have developed a fantastic yellow patina—almost a banana hue—adding warmth and depth against the deep black backdrop. We love it.
The riveted Oyster bracelet is the American-made version by C&I, featuring the expandable design with a clasp stamped ‘7 67’. It’s in excellent condition as well. This fella has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and is ready for many new adventures in the years to come.
We believe a Rolex gilt “Professional” watch is not only a great buy—but also still a bit underrated at the moment. We absolutely love these pieces and hope to get you excited about them too. Get in touch—we’d love to chat more!
