Rolex Submariner 5513 Meters First Zinc-Sulfide Lume Faded Inlay
The Submariner reference 5513 is a favorite of ours, and with its enduring tool watch design, sturdy construction, and impressive 27-year production span, it stands as a true Rolex icon!
This 5513 hails from 1967 and showcases a ‘meters first’ dial, a detail referring to the depth rating format that lists meters first, followed by the feet equivalent (“200m = 660ft”).
In the late 1960s, Rolex shifted to printing feet before meters to cater to the growing American market. As a result, these ‘meters first’ dials are highly sought after by collectors, as these matte dials were only used for a short period of time with the meters-first designation.
This particular watch is even more “special” as it features the zinc-sulfide lume of the earlier “gilt” dial variants. The lume emits a brief “glow” when exposed to black light (UV-A light)—a feature unique to the first batch of these models. Rare!
The case remains thick in all the right places, with a cool faded middle-grey fat-font inlay, giving it a super cool look! The watch is fitted with a Bulang and Sons strap. We think these watches are strap monsters—check out our strap guide for these right here! This fine Sub' has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
