Vulcain Cricket Steel Alarm Watch 1970s

The funkiest Cricket…

This is one of the funkiest Vulcain Crickets that we have seen, with a full-blown 1970s steel case and fantastic two-piece dial. The dial is in two pieces with a vertical brushed silver finish with black enamel markings on the outer section and a black alarm hand. The alarm function was made possible by the movement utilizing two barrels – one for the movement and one for the alarm.
You wind the winding crown clockwise to wind the alarm and anti-clockwise to wind the movement.

Vulcain made the the first wristwatch-housed alarm and the sound was reminiscent of the chirping of crickets…hence the name! The Cricket has a nickname (like all iconic watches) – The Presidents’ Watch. In 1953 Vulcain gifted President Harry Truman with a cricket and the tradition has continued with every American President since. The watch has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
